Becoming an Au Pair in Australia serves a great opportunity to travel as well as gain work experience in childcare. It is not like any other job where you go to work and leave at the end of the day; this way you actually get to live with and become part of the family, experiencing an Australian lifestyle in the comfort of someone else’s home as opposed to a backpackers hostel.

Your duties will be to look after the child and also maintain light household duties. You will be paid an allowance for your personal expenses and your board and food will be included also.

The little girl whom I cared for and her family were very hospitable and living with them was almost like living at home. They were very caring, and included me in a lot of family socials. Having a home to go back to whenever I went out also meant that I did not have to lug around a big backpack, I had a warm home to return to, my own room, a place to clean my clothes, a clean bathroom, home cooked food (cooked by me ), and just somewhere cozy that I could invite my friends home to sometimes and just relax. Something you will not find on a small budget if you travel the conventional way.

I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to gain some experience and practice English. It has definitely changed my life and I will always remember all the memories created in Australia.
